A short paragraph

Here’s a short dramatic paragraph I wrote, part of a series. More will be posted soon!

Young Adam’s family was fairly average. They always ate a roast on Sunday and made sure to spend time with the family. Adam and his brother Jack were close as children, and decided they would always set aside a night a week to play rugby. “Not today, Jack. I have too much homework to do, sorry!” Adam smiled, knowing Jack wouldn’t mind too much. “No worries, I’ll see you later!” Jack laughed, putting his thumbs up, the door clicking as he left his brother in the empty living room. “Now then Charlie, where are you?” Adam smiled, pushing his glasses up on his nose. Walking over to the corner of the room, he picked up Charlie, a spider he had befriended. “Now then Charlie, don’t be afraid, this won’t hurt one bit.” A smile spread across his face as he pulled the legs from Charlie one by one. He stared into the eight eyes of the spider, watching the life leave each tiny, black dot. “Poor Charlie, so many eyes, you didn’t see me coming now, did you?” Adam grinned again, placing the spider’s legless corpse in the palm of his hand.
